Detroit Randonneurs

Huntington Woods, MI, USA   Get Direction

The Detroit Randonneurs bring long-distance intermediate randonneur touring to Southeast Michigan. Their routes are known to be some of the most scenic of all southeat michigan cycle club rides.

Randonneuring is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount.

Randonneuring is part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginning of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring.

Detroit Randonneurs' brevets are minimally supported events on unmarked roads to keep costs low.

The rides are not for beginners. The rides range 120-miles to to 400-miles. The routes are hilly and depending on the time of the season, crosswinds and headwinds can be super windy.

It's advised to practice before atemping long-distance brevets, completing several century rides or double-centuries in a years time span a good suggestion. A brevet will test a rider's endurance and provides a unique opportunity for self-discovery.
